Getting Ready for your Photoshoot

Hello, Beautiful!   I am SO excited to be photographing you!  There are always so many questions for your photo shoot so let’s answer as many as we can for you to prepare you on what to expect throughout the whole process.

What to Expect at your Photo Shoot

A couple of days before your photo shoot, I will confirm all the details to make sure we are on the same page about your makeup start time, shoot start and end time, and location…and I’ll also ask if you have any last minute questions. Expect your photo shoot to last approximately 2.5-3 hours start to finish.

On the day of your shoot, your makeup will be done by my amazing hair and make up artist Haley. Arrive with your face clean and moisturized. Please make sure your hair is clean and dry, ready for Haley to make magic with! Dress comfortably and enjoy the pampering.  While you’re getting lovely, I will take a peek at your wardrobe selections and start putting together looks so we can start capturing you right away.

Once the shoot begins, I will gently direct you with posing and guide you every step of the way. I will show you what to do, and encourage improvising whenever you feel comfortable.  Be prepared…for fun 🙂

The poses look fantastic… but some are not very comfortable and your photo shoot will give you more of a workout than you anticipate. Get a good stretch in the morning of your session and enjoy the moment!

Our 90 minutes of shooting will fly by! That’s a good thing! That means it wasn’t awkward or boring. Just the right amount of fun!

Within 2 days of your shoot, I will email you a teaser image with a referral voucher that you can pass on to your friends. Within 2 weeks I will schedule your photo viewing with you so that you can see all of your beautiful photographs and order anything you’d like!  You should be prepared to place your full order on the day of your photo reveal and ordering appointment. Most clients find themselves getting a large album as well as a piece or three of our fine art wall art prints. My wall art starts at $175 and collections start at $1199. You can check out our full list of wall art and collection pricing here.

Any questions? Please don’t hesitate to ask!

LOCATION

My studio is located in beautiful Nanaimo, BC.  My studio space is built for photos with lots of natural light and stunning clean simple sets. I also love shooting in new places and we can discuss having your session in your home or an alternate location that lights you up.

WARDROBE TIPS

I’m here to capture you. Your wardrobe should compliment you, not be the the focus of the photo. My #1 rule for wardrobe is: only bring clothing that you feel amazing in. We have time for three wardrobe changes during your photo shoot so bring outfits that make you say YES! When in doubt, just bring in some of your favourite wardrobe items and let me style them for you. If you can’t figure out what to wear, we have a curated wardrobe available to you in sizes 2-28.

NOW SOME DO’S FOR YOUR BIG DAY

DO:

Eight Hours. Get your beauty sleep!

Moisturize and stay hydrated the week before your photo shoot! Drink water and moisturize daily for glowing skin for the inside out.

Plan ahead. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the studio and relax. Be on time so you can maximize our time with makeup, hair and your photo shoot.

Trust me.  I’ve been doing this for a long time and I know how to make a woman look good with complimentary posing, strategic lighting, and at the most flattering camera angles. I’ve photographed every age and body type have the most flattering pose for every woman’s body.  I’ve got you. Remember this is supposed to be fun.

I’ve spent the last 4 years photographing all kinds of women,  all extraordinary in their own way. I’ve learned all the tricks to ensure that I   feature the attributes that women most love about themselves, while paying special care to downplay areas of concern.

I’m so looking forward to capturing you and showing you how beautiful you are.
